Yash lands rainbow trout on Topsfield's crystal-clear flats!
What a day on the water! Yash and I headed out for a spring afternoon session around 3:00 pm in Topsfield. Clear conditions throughout the day with rain in the morning and afternoon made for wicked good fishing weather. The flats were slicked out and perfect for what we had planned.
Once we found the right spot, we focused on sight fishing and fly fishing with some light tackle casting mixed in. Yash managed to land a nice rainbow trout during our session. Topsfield's flats are perfect for this type of fishing - the clear water lets you spot fish from a distance and the shallow areas are ideal for fly presentations. Lines tight all afternoon and we wrapped up the trip with great time and smiles all around!
This Trip is One Click Away
If you're thinking about getting out on the water in Topsfield, this is exactly the kind of fishing that makes our area special. The flats fishing here offers some of the best sight fishing opportunities you'll find, especially when conditions line up like they did for us. Whether you're new to fly fishing or want to work on your light tackle casting, these waters give you the perfect chance to practice different techniques. The rainbow trout population stays strong through spring and the clear flats make it easy to see what's happening below the surface. No suh, there's nothing quite like watching a trout take your fly in shallow water. For anglers interested in this style of fishing, Topsfield delivers consistent action when you know where to look.
